I collect them. I just use the Internet, the Red Book, the greysheet and the ANA Grading Standars books as a reference. Dansco makes an album as scoutjim99 mentioned. I keep mine in Intercept Shield 2x2s
3CN are a specialty of mine. I love 'em. I have a Littleton album which has 2¢-3CS-3CN-20¢ all in the same album. Plus, I got the extra album sheath the helps prevent oxidation, etc.
There is very little in the way of reference books. Most of them, I don't care much for. At least one of the large tomes is all about varieties which I don't particularly care about. It goes into detail about the tiniest of obscure details of which there will likely be no premium nor easy to see without heavy power.
The best reference to date (other than possibly Breen's Encyclopedia) is Allan Gifford's ("The Ultimate Guide to the Three Cent Nickle") book which goes into depth on describing each date and the difference between the business and proof dies which is of paramount importance when collecting the 1883-1887 issues.
Wanna hint on a super-sleeper that nearly all collectors and dealers (unless they very closely follow the series) don't know? I've noted this elsewhere before, but the 1875 issue can be dastardly difficult to find in a nice circulated grade. It's actually scarcer than the 1888 and 1889 issues yet has a much higher mintage.
Please feel free to write me with any other questions you might have.
