Hello all. I was just impressed by the quality of this 1964. I know there not worth but I was still impressed after sorting through 16 dollars worth of cents. What do you think?

I've pulled thousands of mint state coins out of circulation. Just because it was tossed around with other coins doesn't mean it will have wear. The mint just produces coins and puts them in a bag. Those bags are shipped all over the place and usually end up getting rolled. Does that mean they are no long mint state? It's all about the level of wear and not the journey.

Thank you bad Thad for rating this coin. Would you perchance know the value of the coin? I am working on getting more mint state cents. I need to buy that book that shows you the different grades of coins.

Worth $4.80 according to numismedia.com for a 1964-D MS65RB. If it was brown it would be worth half that. BadThad has been grading these for years, but I would have graded it lower. Hard to tell with the pictures you provided. The reverse looks brown to me.

Thank you doctor. Also believe the cent is off alignment. The cent in person is a bright shiny copper with a good luster. I will try to post better pics.

BadThad, this newbie thanks you for your reply. You just answered a nagging question I had for a while.
I was under the impression that an MS and higher grade can ONLY be applied to an uncirculated coin... that is, a coin that just came out of the roll and has never seen the outside at all.

Now I know better, thanks again!
