Looks like a bullion piece from a private mint, not the US Mint. This is an actual 1/10 oz Gold American EagleI hope its actually 1/10 oz of gold, but I am worried. Did you weigh it?

those edge images almost look like it was plated or painted gold.

You're worried. The more I look at it the more worried I am. I just posted pictures of the edges. Its 3.09 grams. Its a little light too I think.

I would return it for a full refund. The weight is too high and the edges are suspect at the very least.

You say you tested the density, what result did you get?

Looks like a plated Chinese counterfeit, the lettering and devices look blocky and mushy like an electroplated copy, and the fields have a fuzzy look to them as well. The worn off edges is a dead giveaway. Return for a full refund from whomever you purchased it from.

Sorry but another here that thinks it is most likely not what it is pretending to be .... and tbh even if it did turn out to actually be solid gold I'd still send it back for a full refund as resale would be very difficult imo.
Those edges are awful and the strike in general looks very 'cheap'.

I think it's fake. The edge looks like it was painted or plated.

It's obviously plated or painted. it's got the look of children's pirate treasure, though it is making a very definitive, and likely false, claim.

Condor21 you asked about the density testing. These are the numbers. 3.09 0.15 20.6 100.0% 3.08 0.16 19.25 99.5% Dry weight was 3.09 and 3.06 grams immersed in water was .15 + .16 and the resulting 20.6 and 19.25 I lookup on a chart I have to find the gold content. But today I found out gold has a density of 19320 kg/cu.m and tungsten is 19600 so that is something I will need to lookout for in the future. Weight was a little less and density a little more.
