Australia has had polymer banknotes since 1988. We have long since gotten used to them.
Having said that, polymer notes are a lot less counterfeited than the old paper notes.

Thats good sel, hoping that will be the case here as well.

I wonder HOW the fakes look like...It would be very interesting to see how good of a job they did with the polymer ones. Some paper fakes were BAAAAADDD and I spotted them at work from a mile away.

What is kinda funny about the sudden counterfeiting is that it took such a short period of time, the $5 and $10 haven't even been released yet.

When handling the new polymer notes,.. it's amazing to see the many security devices in these new notes.

The clear through panels with the different structures and with the tiny see-through maple leaf etc... and all of the micro-printing etc.

I'd have thought that the fakes would be easy to spot too.

I think the bad guys have a big advantage right now, a lot of people are not used to using cash and are not familiar with the new bills.
I would guess that less then 1% of my spending every month is done using ca$h.
I've never even seen a hundred dollar bill up close yet, I got a new fifty from the bank machine once and twenty's only twice.
I live and work in northern bc and most bank machines are still only giving out the old bills.
