Interesting to know, as a retailer I was guilty of just accepting these new notes without checking the security features...I would just check the serial numbers for other purposes haha

I don't think it's a case of overconfidence, as stated in the article, but unfamiliarity with the notes in the retail sector. I'll certainly pay attention at our space.

If someone can make it, someone else can too.

Only a matter of time before the rate of counterfeit bills increases and newer technologies will have to be made.

Just think of the effort and expense that these "bad guys" go to to try and cheat the system...

If they would just put that same amount of effort into perfecting a real job...

Be happy that our dollar is as stable as it is.

If you were payed in bullion,...you'd become "bi-polar" in an hour and be running back and forth "to sell or not"...

Can you use a colour photocopier with a polymer, rather than a paper substrate?

See, if we remained on the paper banknote, we would constantly be vigilant by checking the bills instead of mindlessly accepting whatever slippery thing that was passed to us. I always liked the paper bill more than the plastic. Nuff said!

Not just that, but a few times I was handed 3 $100s instead of the intended 2. I gave back the other one and the customer was surprised that I did lol...but it happens SO often that the polymers stick together and are really thin. I sometimes have to count 2 or 3 times at the end of the day just to make sure

*That* is impressive. I was expecting to wait at least a few more years before convincing polymer fakes hit the market.

And then -- boom. :-)
