I am still trying be able to spot the difference between an 005 and 006 reverse after posting what I thought was an 006 reverse on a 1988-p LMC last night. Since then I have been able to without much problem until I ran into this one. Any ideas which one this is? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A simple way to see exactly what an 006 looks like is to pick up a 1989 cent.

I would say 005 look at the legs on the M in the 006 they are almost the same size the 005 the one closest to the A is thinner. Look at the pic coop put on your other post youll see what I mean

Maineman750, this is a 1989 cent. It just doesn't look like the others. To me It has characteristics of both the 005 and the 006. For one thing it is a weak strike like the 005 and doesn't seem to have the serif of the 006. Also the with regards to the "AM" the A is sort of rounded but the M seems straight. I have so much to learn and I am finding this whole "Designers Initials" thing most difficult to master. I appreciate your help.

Daniels, that's what I thought too. I just didn't realize that a 1989 could have a 005 rev. I learn something new from you guys everyday...

In the 006 the top of the two legs of "M" are wide straight-cut(just like in your photo); in the 005 they are more pointy. I believe Coop posted a picture exactly about this a couple days ago.

Also I have noticed in the 006 the top surface area of the legends are flat, even with the base; in the 005 the legends are raised more pyramid-like.

Btw, according to VarietyVista, there is no 1989 DRV-005; the only one discovered was an 006 that was so heavily abraded that it appeared like a 005.

Well that explains a lot, thanks. So I'm guessing it is no big deal and can be tossed back in with the rest of the pennies going back into circulation.

That error is so hard to see when the coin is not in the best shape you don't know how many I thought was the 006 and it wasn't. Just keep on searching and educating your mind and when you think you have read enough read some more.

Keep in mind that the 005 can suffer circulation damage. Thus making it appear to be flat looking. So considering the flattening is another factor to figure in. The top of the G looks like a normal 005.

Quite true, coop! Had not thought about that one.
Thanks for the advice.
