1896 Five Cent Variety? - Coin Community Forum

flanders8008 Valued Member Canada 215 Posts	Posted 05/19/2013 5:01 pm Firstly, sorry about the poor photo quality... I have these two 1896 five cent "fish scales" and I don't know if my eyes need fixing but I think that the dates look different in size. The one on the left seems to have a fatter 6 and the one on the right I guess you could call a wide date. Has anybody else seen this difference and do you know of it to be documented anywhere? I know that it's not on coins and Canada but as seen in the 1932 nickel, there could still be room for new varieties these days... Report this Post to the Staff
