I agree with the others - the topic today isn't about what to buy where and what prices are - it is where is it heading and when will it stabilize... so there are bound to be pontifications - historical references and all sorts of soothsaying...

Once the PM joyride ends... we can get back to buying!

Afganistan?
I was there, way back in 1970. It was much more peaceful then.
I was on my way by road from India to Europe, in our own double deck bus.

That was before they started cutting each other up.

They only wanted your left ear, then.
Now, it's your right ear, and your wild front ear as well.

I have but only one piece of bullion. That is a one ounce platinim Koala, bought for $500, in about 1997. I still have it.
It has sailed clean through all of the PM volatility.
Is it now worth more than inflation price increases? Dunno. Don't really care.

Thanks for starting this topic Libertad, I joined this site because it is a COIN community not a market trading site, not a stackers site (albeit some here surely do stack as well), not a site to show egos (we all have one but most don't feel a need to caress theirs on an internet site on a daily basis) and certainly not an 'investment advice' site.

Whether a coin is worth more or less now than when I bought it because it contains precious metals is neither here nor there to me, I bought it because I wanted it and deemed whatever price it cost at the time appropriate and fair. For me this hobby is about the coins first and foremost, what some are made of is purely secondary.

You all can and did join for whatever reason and that reason is your own....

I agree that when pmz were pushing up there was much more optimism and now like mentioned it is all about is it going north or south and I am guilty of that myself....

Most you guys love coins and pmz for the pure love of the hobby and I more then respect that but to me it has always just been a tool I could play middleman with and just a physical meaningłess metal which in bigger picture is nowhere as important to the temporary or the organic. We are all born to die so I cherish my time with friends and family most importantly as I know nothing lasts forever and separation is inevitable....

Everything else is just finding a way to make enough to keep family safe and fed, everything else is just kiliin time inbetween....

My suggestions for people that don't like the current hot topic on this forum:

1. If you are not interested in a topic don't read the thread
2. If you are interested in a topic, start a thread talking about it. If you want to see pictures of coins, take some pictures and post them. Start a topic telling people what you collect and why. Stop complaining that others aren't talking about what you are interested in and do something to change the focus.

As Baseball has stated, when PM's were on their way up there was no shortage of "look what I got" and "how high will PM's go" threads. Now that PM's are on the way down the big topic is "how low will it go".

If the moderators had a problem with the "advice" threads, wouldn't they shut them down? I just don't understand people. Like Hawk said, life is short. Lighten up a little. Don't sweat the small stuff.

If anybody recalls the History channel special about the men who built America....

Was in not Vanderbilt that saw an oppurtunity when the railroads took a dive and was the only one buying when everyone else was headed for the door, which allow him the oppurtunity to buy all the UNWANTED STOCK (pm metaphor duh lol) which in turn allowed him to corner market and build a railroading empire....

I have less then 1 oz of silver in house and as many know along the last three or four years I have made a little verses losing much in pmz and have had a ball doing it along the way. Wouldn't matter to me if silver hit 1 buck tommorrow other then I now have the best buying window in history staring at me, which when history is said and done may be the days we live today....

Fortunately due to my grandfather slaving his life aways and saving every penny he ever made, I will now receive a small house which yields 500 a month in rent and enough cash to buy a place of my own and ERASE ALL debt to zero....

At that time when I have my own home, I will then look back to stocking silver once again and hope it remains as low or drops even more....

I prefer when all the sheep get side tracked as it makes getting what I want that much easier and that much cheaper....

@Spikey Norman: I appreciate that. Yes, we are not traders trading in imaginary things. Bartering for tangible objects and labor is true trading.

@JSH: Your #1 point. I agree with your point, but sometimes it's hard to tell other people to just shut up on the internet because it just adds fuel to the trolling flame. As if they listen anyways. It just pains me to sit back and let other people swallow what is being said from such a stubborn poster.

@Yup: Uh-huh, this thread was inspired by you. I would've taken your advice much more willingly if you hadn't said that USA is #1 and will never cease to be THE power in the world. That is short-sighted and lacks a human quality. I staunchly defy nationalities and pride in only one thing, for that is religion at its core, in fact it can be closely tied in with a marriage of state and religion. That one tiny slip made me ignore everything you say. That, and your horrible English skills turn me away from believing anything you say. I had to say this. And this is my thread. If you've noticed at all I've long since abandoned adding anything meaningful to your own.

So what I am saying is that don't believe anybody. I am always perceptive to change in thought because who can truly believe that they have a single original idea in their head? Every idea is borrowed from somebody else, whose ideas are borrowed from somebody else, et cetera a la broken cellphone.

I'm not short-term profiteering (trading, pfft), either. I accumulate, add labor to the material, and then hide it in plain view.

I wasn't telling anyone to shut up. I said don't read the topic if you aren't interested in the topic. Life is too short to read and then complain about things you aren't interested in.
