I was bidding on a couple of auctions last night that I was monitoring for the week, which I placed a low initial bid to see where they were going. I lost out on one ( LWC) by one increment (a dollar ) but I won the other one (Buffalo). I finished out on a positive note and filled in another PCGS spot in my 7070 that was vacated by a NGC. VERY NICE! Although you only lost by a one dollar increment, the winner bidder may have bid much more over that, but only needed to beat your bid... I also won an auction for a Civil War token, one other person w/ only 4 wins ended up driving the price up.. Oh well, like you said... you win some, you lose some

I still hate losing by a dollar even if their max was higher. Id rather someone else swoop in and lose by a good margin then have it look like I just missed it. Nice buff though

Could have been worse......if you had lost by say 5 cents, than you would know for sure that you would have won if you bid just 1 increment higher.

I reconcile myself with ebay bids. I try to resist the temptation to continue to bid beyond the value (sometimes it's emotional value, sometimes it's monatary value). I've gotten a lot better and I've found it easier to resist over-spending, but more difficult to get really good deals on ebay.

Quote: do you mean you won that buffalo last night from eBay No, I won the D/S Buffalo on Heritage Sunday Night, $125 plus fees, which was my high bid. Although the Lincoln was on ebay.

Quote: I've found it easier to resist over-spending, but more difficult to get really good deals on eBay I agree that it has been getting progressively harder to get really good deals on E-Bay. It's not impossible, but definitely getting more difficult. I was able to pick up a Civil War token a couple nights ago that I've been wanting at 1/2 the current going price due to it being listed in a different category

Gotta love those "mis-categorized" listings!

Very nice BUFFALO and it appears you got a good deal on it. Those CAC stickers are really going to stand out. Anything you are paying north of $100 in the non-gold series had better be nice. With CAC out there now its going to be harder and harder to get rid of problem material. The best way to solve the problem is don't buy it as an individual coin and pay next to nothing for it when it is in a lot or a set.

Full "PCGS retail" on it is $145. $125 plus 17.5% = $146.88. Then add s&h, which heritage gouges on a bit IMO. I know some people add $12(cost) or $50 for the green bean. I personally don't find them to be any better quality coins. Just a gimmick to raise prices IMO.
