Being new to this, I'm trying to contribute while I learn what I'm looking at. This quarter appears to be off-center by just a bit on the obverse, while the back is truly centered. I understand the anvil is fixed and the hammer moves, but wasn't sure if this if fairly common. Is there a name for this?

Thanks!

(Left rim is very thin. Right is thicker.)

(Rim is consistent around perimeter.)

If one side is off but the other is centered it is called a mis-aligned die (MAD). Off-centers are ofset on both sides equally.

MADs are common. Collectable ones are not common. Yours is within Mint Tolerances so it wouldn't be considered an error. They become collectable when parts of the field are missing or it affects the words or images on the coin. If you go to ebay and do a search of Mis-Aligned Die you will see some nice examples. Happy Hunting!
