It looks like it has been damaged, I don't see any clashing.

There is some evidence of a squeezing of two coins. Possible two coin placed between wood and hit with a hammer. That affects a small area of the coins, whereas using a vice transfers larger portions of the coins. They are always mirrored from each of the coins. This didn't happen at the mint. Just defaced some where along the line. The flattening of LIBERTY shows this happened.
