I'm about 95% certain this is MD... but, it's the other 5% that's nagging me.

I'm gonna say you are correct and that it is MD with VLDS. I will also say that its pretty cool and I had to do a double take at it...

You can tell how worn the die was just by looking at the fields near the rim. I'm thinking MD would be even more likely for such a die, with the level of wear allowing a little more room for the die to "move" during the strike.
