It wouldn't be a bad idea if we did have a premium section on this site which would allow private sales. I try to encourage COD from Canada Post just because it's a simple process. It's mostly for sellers who would like to make more of a profit. Just from selling on ebay then dealing with paypal you're down 15-18%.

With COD it's simple. Seller goes to Canada Post, asks to ship COD, pays shipping and includes how much the item is worth. Parcel arrives at my door, I pay the letter carrier, receive my parcel, and then the cash is then shipped to the seller.

Meanwhile if something goes wrong with ebay or paypal, you're stuck on the phone line with someone from a 3rd world country who can't even understand you.

It would be nice to cut the fees on some of the higher value items, for lower value transactions I don't mind, but when you are looking at $30+ in fees, it takes a big bite out of your margin or potential profit. I've always liked ebay as a buyer for it's simplicity, smoothness and ability to resolve a problem. Paypal fees don't bother me as much, as you will always have a transaction cost (exchange rates are pretty bad though).

Having the option for buy it now might be a great start, but reviews and ratings would be essential to build confidence in the sellers and buyers. You could probably demand a higher level of disclosure on the quality of each coin, as you would assume that sellers could be held to a higher standard. Reaching certain plateaus (100 and 250) are ok with me buy and sell, it shows a certain level of commitment and would help weed out some of the weaker sellers.

I don't mind ebay and PayPal fees as a seller one bit.

Although I act like I do care sometimes, the service that they offer me is well worth the 12.9% +$0.30 IMO.

the thing you have to understand is that forum members are probably among the most astute buyers there are. They do their research for the most part and know what they want to pay for an item. ebay gives you access to the not so educated buyer and that is where your profit potential is. When I sell on the forum I ask myself what I would pay for the the item and price it accordingly. After all if I would not pay more then why should I expect my fellow forum members to. You are saving around 10% in fees selling here and using PayPal and your buyers know this so you can sell at less than ebay prices and still make more than you would there. If you make the mistake of thinking you can get ebay prices of more here then you will not do well.

I would buy from the market section here. But the problem is that the sellers expect to get ebay prices.

ebay + Paypal charges 10% for coin sales with a store subscription. That is not high.

It's a joke when someone complains about the high ebay fees and then charges inflated ebay prices when selling for free through a forum.

Thanks for the clarification, Bm0ney.

Well, at least you know someone is reading your posts...

BTW, it's looks like this poll is a runaway for the "YES" side.
