I can't figure this coin out for sure. To me it looks like there is a number underneath the number 4. Looks like a three maybe. Please tell me what you think.

it's not a 3 it is more likely damage or strike through something. if it was a 3 it would be way too big for a nickel .and also too high. but it do's look like one. I would take it to a dealer and see if he/she see's it. but I will stand with damage.

OOps! I meant to do that. I will get right on it.

I couldn't get directly on top. It was either towards the left or the right.

It may just be a stain like coppercoins has suggested ,,or it could be irregular metal flow from stiking ,,Im sorry I just cant tell for sure from the pic.
