Wow incredible find! Must have been lost around 1884-85. Probably a very nice CH AU with a bit of restorative work.

Could it be CH AU..!!

What a find...great work with the detector...

What's the safest way to clean the dirt out and still not alter the nice toning?

Could there be luster hiding under that dirt?

AU for sure. Just be careful "restoring" it. It could drop to an EF if any scratches find its way on to the coin.

Looks to be better than AU, possibly technically MS but the coin most likely has corrosion issues and very light scratches.

I would think net EF+ value.

Trends at about $3000.

You would probably find a buyer here for between $1000 to $2000.

There is so much detail in the hair.

If it was found in sand, then all of those years of rain and weather pounding the ground might have slightly sandblasted it.

It needs the remaining dirt to be properly removed so that any remaining luster can be seen ...and then correctly graded. Super find all the same..!!
