Hello!

I've been trying to figure out if this bust half is any particular overton variety. It looks to me like the 8 is struck over another 8, and the stars have pecularly long arms on the sides facing away from the bust.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
XoG

Looks like one of the small 8 varieties. Cant tell much more without full obv./rev. pics. The stars drawn to the edge are due to a late die state.

It'll definitely be an Overton variety; they're pretty much all identified now. But not for the features you mention. The stuff in and above the date is either some sort of planchet lamination or postmint damage. The stars (they're called "drawn" are a typical feature of a late die state, and observable for about every single year these were minted.

What's needed to attribute the variety - especially one this worn - is accurate full-face images of both obverse and reverse.

I'm thinking O-110. Based on the T-I relationship and AM connected at base.

yup, O-110.

Too bad about the PMD, and the scratches on the reverse.
