Matthew, Feel free to move this topic. I was not sure where to post so just put it in the one I most commonly visit.

Will do, Jey.

I managed to swipe your original inquiry to make it a plea to we New Englanders and our Maple Leaf Friends
to attend this show. It would be an inaugural test of a CCF REGIONAL OUTREACH and any ideas would be most welcome.

Sure, our presence at a national show is great. But not many of us have the time and money to do so.
The possibility of extending our efforts on a regional level is an idea to toss around.

In 2011, my mentor told me to "have fun." I had approached staffing a table too seriously. Sure, were had $$$$$$ worth of coins on display to
both the public AND to dealers! But we all wanted to cruise the bourse to see what was being offered.

I am fortunate to get "early bird" viewing, so I tend to remain at our table a lot. Any other CCF members would be treated as visitors.
But there would be no major objection that I could see to wearing a little badge with an image of our logo and purpose.
This is a show where education is stressed, and I believe that we could tap into that fact.

By keeping the entire project "low key" we could expend no money and only expend the knowledge that each member feels comfortable with sharing.
Sure, it has never been done before. But, what the hey?
Worth a try.

We members know a LOT!
We could benefit from meeting each other.
We could serve collectors who do not as yet know of our existence.

Lastly, it is not too early to raise this idea. It takes planning.
Certainly informal planning. We can, over time, work out details.
And, the worse case scenario would be that nothing is accomplished and everyone has a good time.
I may even share my favorite bar and pizza restaurant with you all!

I have not been collecting too long so not sure what I could offer in terms of education. Would definately be up for sporting a button or something for the CCF and if folks ask hand out cards. Specially if we get a CCF discount card lol!

Oh, Jey,

Spreading the word of the existence of the CCF is the only thing that you would need to teach!
That this is the best online site for learning, and it is the safest group for kids.

How to address the adults is something that I need to work on. How to convince them that their kid(s) would be safe?
No doubt it can be done.

"I do not know the answer to your question, but the CCF members will help you."
IT IS THIS SIMPLE."

As for any other special perks, discounts, etc.,
that needs to be addressed carefully. That is why I am tossing out the idea on an "under the radar" approach.

But, meeting for dinner after the show is definitely "a go." NO PRESSURE!

So you are confirmed?, Jey
It is a long trip for you!
But it is a nice show. I only want to know how that the show in Westchester NY will affect it. One dealer of my acquaintance is torn.
Which of the the two shows to attend?
NH is now only two days. Westchester is three days. Connecticut dealers have a choice to make. Difficult for them.

Well, NH in the beginning of OCT. should have lovely colors on the trees.
It is closer for the Canadians.
We in New England can make the trip. Except for those in northern Maine.

It would be nice to get just four members together. An inaugural presence of our group.
Perhaps the NH Coin Show can attract more Canadian delaers in the future.

In any event, no pressure, and we just show up and have fun!
Whatever good we do is just icing on the cake.

Matthew

The name of the newspaper with the coupon in it is "The Hippo." Big animal, wrong name.

Booked the hotel already! Looking forward to a quick trip to the show. Coming in Friday around dinner time hope to get a quick peek at some tables before closing time! Then Saturday hit lots of tables and maybe hit the dollar bins in hope of finding a hidden gem.

Matthew, if you have been to the show before do you know of any specific dealers who come with Canadian coins. Maybe a few binders or long boxes? I'm sure beiign relatively close to the Boarder there will be some dealers carrying some stock!

Jey,

Can't say that I know of any specific dealers who have a large stock of Canadian coins.
When a list of dealers is posted on the NH Coin Expo site I will go through it to see if
I recognize anyone.

Yesterday I received two BIG boxes of coins from Bobby, our forum dad.
If any of the CCF attendees have local shows that they attend I can pass out a dozen to each
to hand out to kids. Have already asked for permission to do so.
Also, I will given a dozen to each of two dealers this Sunday at the show who have impressed me
with how they speak to kids. Not all dealers do so, so I favor those who do. And I'll keep a few in my pocket to hand out as well.

I am waiting for the "room discount to attendees of Coin Show" before booking.
As the time grows closer, I would ask the hotel to put all of us on the same floor so that we can continue the "party"
into the wee hours. To do so, I would need the name under which you book. But later is soon enough for this.

I am SO psyched up for this show!

Special Room Rate

The Radisson Hotel is the host hotel and is conveniently located off Exit 5 on Interstate 293, Manchester, New Hampshire. When making reservations, please tell them you will be attending the "coin show" to get the special $114.00/night room rate (Single/Double). We have secured this rate from Wednesday night, 10/2 through Saturday night, 10/5. You can not get this rate online, so be sure to call them to make your reservations. Avoid a sell out and book early.

Ha! Last year the special rate was $109. Oh well...

A first draft of a presentation to be given before passing out the coins to the kids:

Thank you for the opportunity to tell you all about an Internet site called Coin Community Family.

Now of course there is no substitute for attending a coin show in person. You have the chance
to examine many thousands of coins and to speak with dealers. Being able to hold different examples in your hands
will teach you much. And asking your questions and getting answers is part of the journey to understanding coins.
But attending a coin show is not always possible. Parents and guardians: how often does a young numismatist
ask you a question and you do not have an answer? Where do you find the answer?
The Internet is a logical place to look. But how do you navigate the many sites available? And which ones are geared to selling you a product instead of educating you? Let me tell you about ourselves.
Started in 2005, the Coin Community Family is indeed a family of coin collectors for all parts of the world.
We gather together to teach each each other and to learn from each other. The depth and scope of knowledge among us is
without equal and, more importantly, we like to share that knowledge.
Our members have donated many coins to be given to the young collectors among us. Each one of you will receive some, along with our Internet address. We invite you to join us.
Thank you and enjoy the Expo!
