I am new to this forum, so thank you to everyone in advance for any help that may be provided! I found this half dollar while going thorough some of my old coins. I do not know much about different mint errors, but there is clearly something off about this coin. Broad strike? I really do not know and would really appreciate some input.

There is a significant ridge around the perimeter of both sides of the coin. There is no milling whatsoever.
The coin weighs 11.2 grams and is a few mm smaller in diameter that normal Kennedy halves. I have provided the best photos I could on short notice. If there are additional photos or info that would help with ID please let me know.

I probably have nothing, but it would be great if I had something!

Again, thank you to anyone who can be of some help to me, it is much appreciated!

to CCF!

IMHO, whatever happened did so after it left the mint (Post Mint Damage = PMD). I think someone rolled it somehow for that effect - there are better error experts than I who can confirm that.

This does remind me of a Dryer Coin, but over the many years of my grandfather having laundromats and keeping all the Dryer Coins he/we found, we never got a half dollar for some reason.

I would yours was someone spooning it to make a ring. However, just b/c his laundromats (over a 30+ year period) did not produce a half dollar Dryer Coin does not mean it could not have happened.

How are Dryer Coins made?
