Hi everyone,

After examining some of my coins today I found a nice 1961 penny.

The 1 on the date is weak, especially on the bottom half and further more, there is a dot under the "R" in Ragina.

Is this anything significant?

Sorry I have no pictures...I did try but my camera is pathetic for coin photography.

Thanks.

Many of the 60's pennies have weak strikes on the dates- particularly Figure 1. Worth keeping if you are into errors/varieties.!!

Thanks Robster,

I have other 1961 pennies with the same strike, but none with the dot under the "R". Hoped it may be special.

Is someone able to clarify something for me?

The Renniks guide puts the 1961 coin I have at around $5. But the Renniks variety guide lists my coin (with the dot below the R) as being v.scarce.

My question is, how does this affect the value of the coin?
