Hello, I'm new to all this and just getting started. I bought this roll of nickels and they all look like this. Can someone explain what this means and where I go from here with this. Thank you.

These are common, but don't stop looking... There are some valuable coins out there waiting to be found! And don't be afraid to post your finds, the people in here love to see them and they will help you determine which ones are special. Good luck!

TO me this looks like a vending machine injury. But what type of machine now days uses Nickels? The lines are too close to the inside of the coin to be a coin wrapper. But it is just damage, regardless of how it happened.

Was it a "bank wrapped roll" or hand wrapped? The answer won't change anything, it is post mint damage, or at least post strike damage. It's just that finding a whole roll like this would be unusual for a bank wrapped roll.

I've opened a box & had 50 of them staring me in the face. Most common on roll-end pieces.

Slot machines can and do, do that when a coin jams in the feeder all the others that pass through end up scored like that until the jam is cleared or the feeder is blocked completely.

I'm guessing the coin counting machines can do the same thing and that is how 50 damaged coins ended up in one roll.
Rest in Peace

Hope you have better luck with the other rolls. It is odd to get an entire roll with the same damage on each coin.
