The thing for me is that this whole thread seems to be based around the fact that some people think that everyone in the world is a jerk. I find it very depressing that there are so many kind, caring, and friendly people out there, but most of the comments against leaving feedback immediately act as though the population of humans as a whole are un-honest.

To you who are against leaving feedback after receiving payment, how many times do you feel that you have actually been scammed as a seller on ebay? If it is that much to make you not trust our whole race, I find that quite sad .

Not once. Never. 99.5% of buyers are decent, honest people. But not all of them. It's the same as getting a CCL and carrying; how many criminals will you ever actually meet? You'll probably never draw the gun in anger. Why carry it, then?

Because the one time you need it, it's the only tool that will work.

Exactly, so nobody should need to treat feedback as a weapon, because it won't help your case anyways, unlike a gun.

Have to agree with Noahs here. The supposition that all buyers/customers are looking to cheat you in some way - thus need to leave you positive feedback before you will leave it for them... Kind of bassackwards cust service thinking IMO.

Frankly, those sellers that withhold feedback are less likely to get future business. So it does matter to some.

I leave feedback after any buyer leaves me feedback. It's really for no other reason than just keeping track of things on the site and knowing when a certain transaction is officially closed.

It is impossible for a seller to use feedback as a weapon. You cannot leave bad feedback since many years ago. Even if you leave a positive with a scathing message, nobody is ever going to read that, so what's the point. It'll even get buried behind other positive feedbacks in no time. Only buyers can use feedback as a weapon.

There is no way your feedback habits will ever effect your business. Although I didn't test this directly, I tested a related measure of buyer habits. About one year ago I was on a string of receiving very low percentages of feedbacks/transactions. I actually wanted to see if it did make a difference if I left it first. I left feedback first and also waited on about 25 transactions each. Not a satisfactory sample size mind you, but not terribly low. No difference. Buyers do whatever. Frankly, whenever I buy I could really care less about feedback.

Just to quote ebay...

I saw this on ebay pages. The whole reason I made this poll was because I got a message from a buyer that was annoyed that I asked him to leave me feedback. See if you guys agree with this article.

I am having issues getting the article on here. It is called Who should leave feedback first the buyer or seller. Check this out it is on he ebay pages.

But still, that article is acting as though every human has anger-management issues.

If you do, you probably shouldn't be interacting with people electronically, because as well all know, some people feel very powerful behind a keyboard, plus words on a page with no expression may be understood out of context.

I am not trying to say everyone is a bad, terrible, hard person to get along with. I don't think anyone else is either. I just do this to make sure the transaction goes as smoothly as possible.

Fair enough, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
