That's SOME ducat; just about the best I have seen!
No doubt one of the 'stars' of your collection!

I know that you are not keen on slabs, but somehow I guess that you may be tempted to keep this one 'as is' for protection. Gold is soft. This coin is sharp.
Storage now comes to be a bit more of a problem, with a few coins slabbed, but most not.

Trout, you have either a previously unknown 1929 Ducat or a fat finger in typing (I presume you wanted to type 1729).

Yes it is and it is much to your guidance that I acquired it in the first place
Once my Proclamation set is complete I can only go back in time from there

It sure is a beauty, and has been well cared for these past almost 300 years.

I've got a few old English shillings from the 18th century but nothing that compares to your ducat.

The '53 copper penny most probably started it's circulating life in Australia. Homeland coinage issued new is what circulated in Australia exclusively from 1825 to 1855.

The 1860's saw Australian gold and tokens supplementing homeland silver and bronze coinage. 1860's to 1910 saw Australian Mint marked gold and homeland silver and bronze. Half crowns circulated.
No new homeland coinage was issued in Australia after 1910, and by 1925, all homeland coinage had been withdrawn and repatriated back to the Old Dart.

So, for 100 years exactly, homeland coinage could be found commonly circulating in Australia.

Trout, ole fella:
Since you are from Withenshawe, perhaps you should give some consideration to British coins of the 19th Century. It is a fascinating and extensive series.
Like a giant, you could stand with a foot firmly planted in each country.

I recently secured a Star Pagoda for my Proclamation set and discovered that there were some other different types of these Gold Pagodas that can be considered as ‘Proclamation" Coins.
This is another type I picked up, It is from the same era as the Star coin and is the same weight.
These are the sellers pic's I will take better images when the coin arrives.
It was listed as "Rare" BUT the phrase is bandied about on ebay to describe quite ordinary coins at times so I take that with a grain of Salt.
Is this coin in fact scarcer/Rarer than my Star Pagoda

Seller description and Pic

This is a lovely gold Pagoda from the Indian Princely State of Arcot. It is 11 mm in diameter and weighs 3.42 grams. The coin is from the reign of Muhammad ‘Ali (1751 - 1795 CE) and features three deities on the obverse and the Arabic letter ‘ayn on the reverse on a granulated field. The letter ‘ayn is the initial letter of ‘Ali. The coin grades a lustrous AU or better. It is KM 14, which includes values only to VF, and Zeno 125200 (this coin). A choice example of a scarce type of Indian gold.
