Just a question.I bought 2 boxes of BRINKS plastic wrapped Lincoln cents.I noticed that in one box I found a marked coin in just about every roll .Does anyone know the reason ,purpose behind this? And it was only 1 coin per roll like that. Also not at the end of the roll...they are mixed within the roll.

It may have been attempt to not get the same rolls back from the same bank that they had already searched. That is would be my guess.

I put "x's" on the rolls that I return to banks. So if ya get rolls with "x's" all the way around the middle of the roll...don't bother looking :)

the plastic wrapped brink rolls are only done by brinks right? A private citizen does not have access to the plastic wrapping machine. if that is the case, you mystery coin hunter must have wrapped his coins with the red marked one either end of the roll. The bank then puts the excess rolls in the safe and when Brinks comes to drop off the weekly coin rolls they also take excess that is in the vault. Brinks then re-rolls the cents and you end up with plastic wraps with red marked coins throughout. The above is only a theory from an ex- bank teller. take it or spend it.

I put a black ring around mine near the end of the roll. Works well, the tellers all know to look for it when I go to pick up rolls and they are easy to spot.
