Quote: The really nice thing about a decent Canon point and shoot is the software. You have the ability to take pictures remotely from your computer while looking at the image on your screen. That software does not support point & shoots; only dSLR's. Some Canon point & shoots have been hacked via CHDK for remote shooting, but that's a bit of an effort to install non-factory software. Not for the faint of heart.

My Canon A620 came loaded to shoot remote. That was a 2005 camera and software.

I just can't tell what one to pick.. I keep seeing more and more different ones. I want one that has: composite( yellow, white and red) HDMI, USB, and 1080 video format. Now would one with 30x zoom be better? It has 16 MP It has 720 video though, I want 1080. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Canon-16-...001/21675103

The internals of that SX500 aren't quite as good IMO. Here's another to futher confuse you - I think this is the latest and greatest version of my model: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Canon-12....ingMethod=rrNotice how the price keeps going up just a little! I spent a lot of time bouncing back and forth between models until I finally settled on one...it's overwhelming. p.s. That one didn't get great reviews on Amazon tho...sounds like there might be an issue with the battery metering.

Quote: My Canon A620 came loaded to shoot remote. Yep. The A650 was the last model to support it out of the box; I'm going to pick one up some day to see how it does. Their value has remained disproportionately high, though - it must have been one heck of a camera.

Those A-series Canons were great cameras. I had an A530 and it took great pictures (my current, pictures in my tag line were taken with it). After it broke I bought an entry level Canon (A2300) and was very disappointed with it before replacing with the SX260 HS.

Well, I went to Wal-mart, I came back with....nothing. MY Wal-mart SUCKS! They have very junky stocking, bad displays with some even broken. Also the price tags are mostly out-of-date. I will have to buy online and pick it up at store or just have them workers ship to my house. @Kenkat....yeah I hate you.. (in a good way) I don't think I will have any hair left on my head by the time I pick a camera. Now the one you just linked is nice. The price is a little high but I can still do. Oh yeah, look what it saids: Not carried in your localBut I had my eye's on this one: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Canon-10....yViewedItems

Don't feel alone. I refuse to go into the electronics section there anymore, but I didn't want to say anything before you went there.

I used to think Wal-mart was the best store, but now I'm starting to hate them. All other big stores have everything they have, even at the same price. I like BestBuy and Targets.
