I think it's a good entry camera that will produce good pics. I use a Canon SD780IS and I like the macro setting. Await other opinions from the more experienced though.

The only thing I don't have is the memory card. I believe it don't come with it. I have one for my video game but it has all my games-saves. (I think the same kind)

Go to walmarts and take a penny and take a pic using their display model using the macro or flower setting. If you see a good image it will probably work. If you want professional pics you will need a professional camera with a macro lens.

It is Martini friday so the curt reply is part of that. You can get a SD card or the kind of card that the camera uses for a few bucks. The only way you will be able to take good images with a point and shoot is to get a tripod and good lighting. I use a Nikon point and shoot and it gives some good images. I also have a Nikon D80 with an extension tube to get the type of closeups I want. You will need to experiment with the setup and lighting to get usable images. Don't give up keep changing until you get the images that you want.

It won't only be used for coins though. That's a very great idea about testing the camera's, but sadly my Wal-mart isn't a normal kind. The cameras don't work, they're just display models, I have looked before. They have lack of almost everything, you need to order online and wait while they ship from store to store. Perhaps, thanks so far guys. I have ordered a game once, they gave me the wrong one. Took 30 minutes till they have gave me the right one. Edited by solotime

I have tried that camera on coins before, and it worked quite well. The only reason I didn't buy it was because I was loaned a nicer one (that would have been way out of my budget).
Other electronic stores like BestBuy will probably have it. Go try it out there.

I think that will be a pretty nice camera in the point and shoot category. You should be able to get decent coin shots with some practice as well as it will be a nice general purpose camera for other uses.
More important than the 16 megapixels (which is plenty) is the Digic5 image processor (latest version), the HS system and the CMOS image sensor. I have a different Canon camera (SX260 HS) with the same basic internals and it takes great pictures overall. I looked at the various ELPH models and went back and forth before getting the model I got. But I think this is a good camera.

@noahs-numismatics, very good information but the closes Best-buy is 30 miles away. Now I could go there and try it. But that wouldn't be soon. I have never heard of Newegg. Perhpaps, isn't Wal-mart supposed to price match? Quote:

I don't know if another electronics store around you would have it. A couple of years is on the edge of old for electronics IMO  |

The latest version is the ELPH 330. Based on a couple of googled reviews of 320 vs. 330, there's not that much different except a little more zoom on the 330 and the price difference.
I think the 320 came out in Feb. 2012.

@noahs-numismatics, My handheld video game is 6 years old, it still works like new :) But like Kenkat said, the reviews aren't much better.
@Kenkat, thanks for taking the time to look them up!
I am going to buy the camera in a few hours.

The really nice thing about a decent Canon point and shoot is the software. You have the ability to take pictures remotely from your computer while looking at the image on your screen.
