I didn't see a topic on this, but why is the mintage of this coin so high? I'm referring to the 1/25oz gold coin.

is 10,000 mintage normal for these things? I actually like the design of this coin even though I won't be able to see it on the physical coin.

i bought the legendary nature 1/25oz gold coins (peregrine, bison, orca, boreal) because they were nice but also because they had a 2,500 mintage.

i dont think I can get this coin with a 10,000 mintage. I think 1/25oz is VERY limited appeal to people because of how small they are.

The first 1/25 oz had an actual mintage of 25k. Most of the 1/25 oz have had about 10k mintages. As you noted, the 2011 year of the forest coins were exceptions with much lower actual mintages (under 2.5k).

I guess the current coin follows the 1/25 oz series which are typically higher mintages. Only a couple of them have actually sold their full mintages.

^^ ok now that makes sense. I never paid any attention to these coins until I saw the year of the forest ones and I scooped them up, so I figured they all had low mintages like that.

with a coin that small, they should't have a 10k mintage IMO

I think this kind of coins is just for real collectors, not to resale so the mintage is not so important.

Those kids (and even their teacher) from Saskatchewan deserve to get their coins first!

Good for the RCM, that's a pretty cool event to carry out. Hopefully the kids enjoyed it.
