I am not sure if this would be the right place for this question as it is an odd one.

Do we know what was the first coin ever minted from the USA mint?

The very first officially minted US coin was the Half-disme (dime), struck at the newly built Mint in Philadelphia in July 1792.

They're out there if you have the $$$. Do a search on Heritage Auctions http://coins.ha.com/c/search-result...=25&Ntt=1792. Sales from $4600 for a "holed, damaged, repaired, uncertified VF20" to this beauty that sold for $1,410.000 Jan 2013.

Just-Wondering

And quoted from their writeup: "The ownership of a 1792 Half Disme, regardless of grade, clearly indicates that the numismatist is a serious student of American coinage. Despite opinions to the contrary, this issue is the first circulating American coin struck under authority of the Mint Act of April 1792."

more interesting facts on this coin are that the obverse bust is rumored to that of Martha Washington and some of the silver used was from George Washington's personal holdings. These coins were not even struck at the Mint but in the workshop of John Harper as the Mint was not yet completed.

It's a very cool little coin. Much to the chagrin of some folks on this forum, I actually picked up a counterfeit of one so I could have it in my collection

Stacks and Bowers have that coin up for auction at the ANA in Aug.

I may try for it with a $100 bid, that's my max with my budget. :)
