Comparing with Red Book pictures looks good to me. Only 10,008 minted.
Hopefully "Commems" will offer opinion.

After a quick look at the coin in question, I agree that it is a counterfeit coin. A few of the reasons for my conclusion:
  • Neither the style of the lettering nor the spacing between the letters matches what is seen on a genuine example; this is true for both sides of the "coin."

  • The mermaid to the left of Neptune does not have the same style of tail.

  • The water spouts coming from the whale are different in appearance.

  • The sails on the ship have multiple differences in shape and size.


There are more differences, but those are enough to identify this one as a counterfeit.

If I'm unsure of commems that look fake I always ask for the weight. Most of the time they are way to light.
