It appears to be an 1876 Sydney Mint sovereign. It's not rare or worth a whole lot more than bullion value plus some premium.

Thanks for the reply, Mr. T! I really love the detailed dragon slayer theme on this coin so will surely keep it. Any idea what the approx. bullion value could be?

It's close to a quarter ounce of gold, so $400 to $500 I think (depending on what $ you're using and what the price of gold is doing at the moment).
But it's old and in reasonable condition so it would be worth more than that.
