What does it weigh? What's the diameter? Where did you get it?

It is a sovereign or half sovereign, but that depends on weight and diameter as stated above. There are fakes out there, that is why the weight and diameter are very important.

I got it from my grandfather. The diameter is +/- 22mm, no idea about the weight since I don't own a precision scale to weigh it.

Well the diameter is right, but it's hard to say without the weight. Just looking at it there's a lot of flatness on the design but I don't know if it's wear or not (I'm inclined to say it isn't as Edward VII's ear is still reasonably sharp).

$400 to $500 probably. I don't think it's a rare date and most post-Victoria sovereigns are obtainable in uncirculated condition.
