A raw 16-D on the bay? This usually doesn't turn out well.. NO Returns? Even worse.. The reverse just looks odd to me with the texture. Opinions?

Dug coin, but I think it's real, has the die crack at the bottom of the fasces and looks to have some doubling on the upper part of the D, fitting die #2, if I remember the die # correctly.

With that said, it's not a coin that would interest me. Too many potential questions and I'm not confident enough to drop $1k on an uncertified, highly counterfeited key date.

Looks like it was cleaned with a wire brush.

It has deep long parallel scratches, which indicates a harsh scrubbing (scratches from normal wear should usually be short and pointing in all directions).

Noticed ie was sold and 21 bids too. Odd so many would bid on that coin. Considering a 16D is possibly one of the most counterfieted coins on Earth. Unbless such a coin was in a slab and a slab by a top TPGS, I'd just laugh and walk away.

I don't like it at all, the MM rotation seems to be off and lower than what I can see, perhaps photo is distorted and is for sure unclear.

The other thing is the title stated that is in VF condition. No way!

Id never touch a 16 d raw in person or on ebay, but theres really no risk on ebay. If it turns out to be fake or have an added mint mark you just open a case and you get your money back, it doesn't even matter if the seller has returns or not ebay refunds everything for fakes.

That said Id still stick to graded to avoid the hassle but can see why some people will go for the raw to save some money knowing theyre only risking not having the money for a couple weeks max.
