For the past year I've ben picking up from a particular branch in town here and have created a great repore with the 2 lady tellers in the business wicket kat and chris. Well sadness....Chris, the one I dealt with the most, informed me the last time I was in that she was moving and got a transfer. We shared a few words and wished each other the best. That was 3 weeks ago. Today I went in and Kat, the other girl that I dealt with said that she had something for me. She went into the drawer and pulled out a book for me. It was a 2009 copy of Canadian coins, paper money and bullion reference book. Wow. I was completely surprised and beside myself. Such a cool thing to get and very thoughtful. Chris had remembered me saying that I've been looking for a book that deals with Canadian coinage only and she went and got me a copy and left it at the branch with instructions to get it to me. I'm sad that I didn't get to thank her in person. She was such a great person and I will miss our little chit chats. She always did the best she could to help me in my coin collecting and roll searching adventure. I asked Kat to let her know that I did get it and that I was truly from the heart grateful.

it's nice to meet people that are friendly and go out of their way for someone else.

Awesome. Love it when people will go above and beyond. Too bad she's gone, but hopefully Kat will see how much a little effort can mean to someone and take over Chris' role

This is what collecting is all about, the interaction with people and the stories generated. I can remember having to talk my dad into buying a 1902 Indian head and a 1893 Columbus Comm when I was a little kid from a defunct store or I remember haggling with dealers on certain items but when I order or just paid a regular price for something its like. . . ok its in the collection, whatever.
I like having stories behind my collecting episodes but sorry your friend is gone, I hope the next teller works out for you.

I think a lot of us have/had a favorite bank teller,I did but she retired .I have been lucky though most of the other tellers are nice and helpful. John1

Sad to hear your tellers are gone. It is nice she left your a gift though. There will be others. Being new to CRH I am beginning to develop a rapport with some of the tellers at various banks. They know I am a collector and I openly call myself the crazy nickel guy, lol! I agree with previous posters saying that collecting is all about developing relationships. Already I have my favourite tellers that are willing to help a collector, however there are also certain tellers that view Coin Roll Hunters as a royal pain in the ass. I can think of one branch I now avoid because they give me a hard time when I request even five rolls of nickels! Never fear. Just keep being nice and you will surely find new kind tellers to deal with.

I'm not sure where she got this book. I had never looked really hard for one yet so I'm not sure where to go. I guess a place like coles or something. I know my LCS doesn't carry a book dedicated to Canadian currency and bullion. Anyways, this book I have here is 27th edition. 2009 Coins of Canada by J.A. Haxby and R.C. Willey. Its a pretty decent book I would say. Been reading it the past few days. A lot of helpful hint, info and explanation of Canadian currency. However there are still details missing, but a great started book for sure. Price tag on it says $8 so cheap and cheerful for sure. I will get a more up to date version sometime down the road but for now it has everything I need. Sorry I couldn't help more. CHEERS!

Same situation here.
The vault teller whom I had been dealing with for almost 2 years said she was quitting to go back to school.
The head teller at one of my dump banks transferred in to the branch 1 month ago.
Last week I went to pick up my boxes and they were both new 2013 boxes. I pointed it out and the transfer teller asked do I want them or not. My old hookup would open the boxes before she set them aside for me to make sure they were not new.
I guess it pays to hook up and keep your connections happy.
