I added two more Potin Tetradrachm's to the collection for a VERY reasonable price. Year 2 = 285/286 AD. A K GOYA L DIOKLHTIANOC CEB, laureate draped bust right L-B, Alexandria standing left holding head of Serapis & long sceptre. Year 7 = 291/2 AD. DIOKLHTIANOC CEB, laureate head right L-H, Athena seated left holding Nike & spear. Emmett 4033. Super excited. Really didn't mean to win the first one but I couldn't let it go for the price that it did without me bidding on it. I do need to find a better way of storing my coins though it is starting to get humid here and I am getting worried about BD. I am thinking a nice binder would be preferable that way they are out of the way so they don't bug the girlfriend. If anyone has suggestions of a good binder I would grealy appreciate them.

They do have some storage sheets that hold 2x2s and the clear plastic sheets can fit in a 3 ring binder.

I like these Alexandrian Tets, but as a series I think they are overlooked by most collectors because they are not pretty coins. That's fine by me it keeps the price down. Nice coins.

Not pretty coins? I think they are gorgeous. I like these so much better than the Campgate, FEL TEMP Fallen Horseman, or Soliders with spears. Plus they have substance! They may not be the biggest coins but they are fairly thick.
As for storage sheets I don't like confining my coins to the generic cardboard 2x2 I like to be able to take them out and handle them and show them off to friends. History comes that much more alive if you can touch it. I am looking for something sort of like the Gardmaster albums but more generic (not confined to 1c 5c 10c etc.

WB, I put mine in "open" 2x2 flips now, so I can get the coins out if I need to no problem...like these..

For storage, if you don't want to splash out on a cabinet, check out Lighthouse coin trays (Lindner also make them but they are usually slightly more expensive)

WB, I also think they are far nicer looking than those others. I have several in my collection and would love to have one from all that emperors that issued them.

Ski - I would love to see some of them sometime! Some of them get fairly pricey though.
Chrs - I have looked at those in the past but haven't really been able to find a decent seller in Canada. My LCS only really has the cardboard 2x2's. There is another LCS nearby that I haven't gone to yet that I need to check out though. I like them because you can have an attribution sheet in them too.
Bacchus - I really like those trays I am going to see if anyone sells them in Canada at a decent price.

Very nice looking coins. I dabbled with these ALexandrian Tets for a while and built up a small collection of the Probus types. I soon realised that there was an emperor on horseback type that I would be unlikely to ever obtain and the steam ran out on that little sub-collection. I still have about 40 Probus tets in my albums.

I have seen your gallery on Forvm, Martin. You have some excellent examples of Probus tets. I particularly like your Year 1 Elpis. The lettering is so clear on the obverse and you can actually see the leaves on the flower and the year 5 Homonia is also awesome

Great coins! I store mine in inert plastic 2x2 flips which are then held in a coin stock book for 2x2's. Humidity is not a problem where I live, but PVC damage could be an issue if not stored properly.

Many thanks. I know that when I come to part with them I will on receive a fraction of what I paid for them as I was willing to pay dealer prices for most. More patience would have allowed me to build a collection for less. Every now and then I see coins like yours and think to myself that I should pay more attention to Alexandria again especially after I invested in the necessary references. Let's see what happens in the next week or so....I feel another distraction coming on...

I feel like you will get a fair price for many of the coins judging from your gallery. I don't have funds readily available so I have to bargain shop as much as possible. Now that I have common, lower quality issues of most of the emperors and have filled that thirst I can save up and buy some more expensive coins at auctions if I can find them. I am doing my best to avoid dealer prices and be patient. I feel like these are good enough quality I wish the obverse had a little bit more detail but the reverses really stand out and at those prices who can complain.
Alexandria is a worthy distraction. To think a couple of these may have at one time walked through the Library in a change purse.
