Just received this Morgan and after I read some posts from others who have the same coin It made me wonder if the one I bought is real. I scanned a couple of pictures and the coin weighs 26.1

The wear seems kind of odd. I have bad feelings about it, hopefully just because the coin was cleaned.

Aside the idea of buying a Key in raw condition (), I don't see anything immediately hair-raising about your coin. It has the appearance of VAM-2 - date and mint mark location figure heavily in that. Look for doubling under the top serif of the 1, and a strong line inside the top left of the E in LIBERTY. The former may not be there with this worn coin, but the latter still should.

@Dave, but doesn't the coin have the look of a cleaned one? I am trying to learn more information and help.

I can see the doubling on the 1 and there is a line there where the e is at.
Do you think this coin is worth having graded?

Not really; at this level of wear it becomes a much more flexible concept. If this coin was cleaned, it was a long time ago and the result is almost certainly market-acceptable.

Okay, well to punish me for being wrong. Here's what you can do, throw a full roll of Morgans at me.

You know, it's just the lighting I bet.

I don't see any red flags either. I believe it would be worth it to have this coin graded by either PCGS, NGC, or ANACS. It could grade G-6 details, scratches or damaged. If so, it would put its value somewhere around $300-350.

True honest wear is hard to fake. This really looks like the type of wear you'd see from circulation.
