(Forgot to preview before writing my post)
So my usual coin shop is in Chico. I had some stuff to deliver to Red Bluff, a half hour north of home, and I wanted to get some long freeway driving out of my system. So I decided, impulsively, to visit two shops up north, one in Red Bluff, the other in Redding.

The one in Red Bluff turned out to be a Tues-Sat outfit.

These three that you see are from the Redding shop. What a different operation to my usual place!
A security guard at the door (not a bad Idea).
All coins with a barcode on the flip for computerized inventory control, no hagling to be done on the price even to get the pesky sales tax out of the equation!
Still, these two were jumping up and down at me, so I bought them anyway. $25 price felt right on the Half Dime, $50 on the 3c seemed high. $80 and change after the sales tax.
Impaired proof LMC showed up in the change.

Also got to hold a 100 ozt JM Silver Bar (so THAT's what that much mass feels like)

Maybe high priced for problem coins, however, if you enjoy owning them and they spark your imagination..... It is worth every penny!

The Half Dime is nice. Like that one a lot. I agree the price on the 3 cent silver may have been somewhat high but if you like the coin that's all that really matters. I was lucky and picked up this one at my local shop last weekend. Love these little gems...

Ha ha, I drown in weird change whenever I pay in cash at a coin store. Every second nickel I get has King George VI on it, and I've seen the till is even stocked with bird-series bills. Isn't it amazing how they let all this slip right past them?

By PCGS Photograde, the Half Dime is a VF.

The trime is tougher to grade. Their page goes down to VF30. The trime is an 1858 (my obverse images have the trime upside down). In the "United States of America" legend, I can only make out the folowing: "United States of America" where Bold is realy clear, regular is readable, and a Teal means I can see it if I hold the coin in the ring light or not at all.
