The edge of my 1830 Capped Bust half dollar reads "Fifty Cents Or Half A Dollar" However, the word "OR" appears to be weakly struck/ overstruck onto "HALF" so that the R in or is overlapping with the H in half. As I do not own any other capped bust halves of this type, I cannot compare. Is this a normal or perhaps this coin is something special?

Edge lettering was an imprecise process, and mistakes abound in the Bust Half series. Doesn't mean your coin is not interesting, but an error of that nature is not uncommon.

That's the result of the Castaing machine. The coin was rolled between two bars that each applied half of the edge legend. The two halves didn't match up exactly, which is why there are a couple decorative symbols at the end of each half, to take up any extra space.

as stated the error edge lettering is common.

However:

If you find doubled edge lettering -- that is scarce.
