Question About An 1853 Dime. - Coin Community Forum

hstewart New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 06/12/2013 1:35 pm I recently found an 1853 silver dime in my couch but instead of saying on the back...half dime... It says one dime. Half Dimes were bought on by demand of smaller denomination coins that were composed of silver instead of other smaller denom coins like cents and Half Cents. awesome coin you have, post pics if you're able Report this Post to the Staff

There is no telling what may have fallen out of my pockets over the years. I know I have a change jar on the counter in the kitchen that has, along with todays modern coins, Half Cents, large cents, Indian heads, Half Dimes, and Seated dimes in it.
