Hello all. This is my first post here so forgive any transgressions! I was hoping someone might advise me regarding an odd variation or die error around the pendant earring of this 1887 jubilee head half crown. Anyone know what it is or seen something like it before? Is it a common or significant error? Any thoughts would be much appreciated....

Fortunately there's an old shot similar to this on my HD, but mine has PMD.

I am not an expert or anything, but I am struggling to see how these little defined marks, which are in relief and not close to an indentation could be the result of a tiny bit of metal being scooped out and up in PMD. Could be entirely wrong. Are those shown in your pic 'in' denticles or 'out' denticles (in high relief)?

Thanks v. much for replying though. Not saying I don't think it could be PMD, just still unsure ;)

New picture, same coin. 1887 jubilee head half crown.
And yes they are definitely "in" marks, despite how the scan appears.
Yours seems to have an extra piece of metal next to the 1st drop of the earring. A Cud maybe?
