Best I can do on the 1990s format of these forums, on ebay it lets you zoom in on some of the parts in question like the die break around the "E" in united and the funky shape of the last 8.

.
You could crop the zoomed picture to show the shape of the 8.
If you save the picture as .jpg, the compression should allow you to upload pics of sizes 800x800 or even a bit larger.

the best I could do but I think I blurred it up pretty good. Might have to take a new picture or fire up the scanner. Notice the asymmetry of the left side of the last eight compared to the right.

You call it a "possible" 1888/7 yet you already have it listed on ebay as such and are here trying to promote your auction? Wow

Nothing in the pictures leads me to believe this is an 1888/7

Thanks for the insight. Listing will be removed from ebay. Didn't mean to come off as having an "attitude". There are several key identifiers to an 1888/7 such as the die break near the "E" in united, along with a weak second to last feather tip on the obverse, and the last two 8's seemed a little off along with the fat "1" on the date. But I understand when a lot of these questionable identifiers can be perceived as real when you want them to be.

I have seen your ebay listing with the better pictures. There is no way this is an 1888/7. The date is actually strong enough that some evidence of the '7' should still be visible and there is no trace. I am familiar with the other identifiers you've mentioned and they are not visible at all, either. At this level of wear you will not see a die break or a weaker feather.

I wouldn't fault you for hoping it to be an 1888/7 even in the face of heavy doubt. We've all done that. Your listing does not say "possible," it implies certainty. Therein lies a problem. Whilst this coin has no chance of selling as a true 1888/7, it is still unethical to have such a listing. Your comment that it will be removed from ebay was almost 4 hours ago and I'm seeing it up right now.
