Does anybody know if an overdate exists for this year, the coin is quite worn and I cannot make out what date it is / was. Thanks for all comments.

I think thats just a worn example of the 1875 and not an overdate. I am unaware of any specific overdates tho

I agree. The bottom half of the "8" shoud be wider than the top.
It's a ? worth asking, though.

Which digit? I'm not aware of any overdates either (though I'm not aware of any recent comprehensive listing of Straits Settelements issues either).

It is suspicious, but looking at http://museumvictoria.com.au/collec...lements-1875 it looks like all the numbers appear wide.

Sadly, many of these coins are modified to make the year appear as 1878 which is a very rare keydate and very valuable in any condition.
