I bought this (in hand),labeled uncirculated. I'm not sorry I bought it either way but I'm wondering if you think it is, in fact, Uncirculated. The reverse does have some luster. thank you, Steve

I'm with 52Raymo on this one...XF45. XF45 can have some remaining luster. IMO, this coin has too much wear for AU.

XF is my opinion also.

I've been looking at Liberty nickels hard lately and can tell you it seems as though they have their own grading world. I have never seen so..... many fines and XF's labeled AU's in my life, so it's easy to get caught up in the mixed up grading standards regarding these nickels.

Which is why I posted the question. I went to my B&M guy looking for a particular IHC, that he did not have.
Looking through his books he had a page of really nice Liberty nickels. He told me he just got them in and the 1800'S flew off the shelf and the others were going quickly.I wasn't even sure what I needed upgrading so I left with nothing

I couldn't stop thinking about those liberty nicks though.
I looked at slabs on ebay and MS61 and 62 looked much like this coin, with this one actually having better stars on the obverse. So I went back and picked up this coin, one of the few common dates in my set that wasn't VF-EF. I'm happy with the purchase I just wasn't convinced it was in fact UNC.

There's always a story isn't there
