Hello all,

I picked up this 1782 8R FF Mexico a while back from an estate sale in a box of old 90% silver dollars. Never seen one before, tried doing some research, came upon this discussion:

The details of my coin are remarkably similar to this specimen. Particularly with reference to photo 4, this coin has a nearly identical ridge and die marking on the M. I would wager whatever the source, these two are twin coins.

Rim shows squared off/irregular circles. There is clearly some layer separation on the reverse. The weight is about 0.5g light at 26.1g.

Interested in any and all opinions! Thanks

Congrats on showing the initiative to search some prior posts... Yup, this is another specimen of that fake - that "die crack" makes this particular one easy to confirm. As I mentioned back then, this piece is similar in terms of characteristics to some of the (invariably bogus) pieces that appear in Postal Commemorative Society folders (though I'm not certain that I've actually seen this particular one in that packaging). Little doubt that this one and those others are fairly modern numismatic fakes...
