I almost jumped in on this one.

I've purchased from this seller, the auction I won the coins were better than I expected.

Tell me if I missed out on good 'un.

I just bought a coin from that seller last month:

Compare the seller's pics with my own, in this thread:

I thought mine was VF with an older cleaning when I bought it, and in-hand I still think so. Your coin looks XF-AU; the reverse wear could be strike so I'd have been bidding it at XF with an old cleaning. A little pricey, but a keeper. I'd probably have sniped it in the $165-170 range, but I'm not surprised at the price. They're getting scarce in such nice shape.

I believe good clean EF-AU Busties are a real growth industry, and I'm watching them closely.

Dave,

In my research I noticed you'd bought one from them. I didn't realize it was the one in your thread though.

I was going to hit it at the end with a max of 185.

Good to know maybe I had the right idea.

Others might think differently; I think you were right on.

I've also bought from that particular seller with good results. The 1830 is a nice piece from what I consider an undervalued year, borderline AU with an old cleaning. If it had gone for $157.50 or was an uncommon variety--it's the large 0 but still an R.1--I'd say you should be kicking yourself.

There are better deals to be made out there. Holding onto some ammunition was the right call in my opinion.
