Saw this on ebay, where it ended tonight with a high bid of $434. Looks like an old unofficial issue or something. I was just curious if anyone knows what exactly this is.

Sort of obvious what it is if you follow along here... Amazing that two big guns went nuts on it like this. I wonder if anyone would have bid at intermediate levels (but snipes didn't execute)?

In doing a little searching on the high bidder, I sort of wonder if his name isn't Mike D.

What a gorgeous contemporary counterfeit! Crude barbaric type, I would guess?

Well, I do follow along on here and my first thought was contemporary counterfeit... but since it does not replicate any mint and assayer marks, I guess it's not technically a "counterfeit", but rather a fantasy. Just wanted to know more about it.

I was wondering if the UNDERBIDDER was a certain person in my post, btw (mistakenly said "high bidder")...

Has anyone checked this piece in Riddell?
