I don't know I don't feel easy about it. I like the coin it has appeal, but something is not right. Correct me if I am wrong but if this coin is 39 mm wouldn't that make it to big for the date. After like year 17 don't they become small and crude? This coin looks like it should be like a year 12 when everything was right for the empire and the coins were of full weight and diameter. The condition of the flan bothers me as well doesn't it look like it has been splayed out in an uncharacteristic fashion. I could be wrong, and if I am then I am sure a coin like this would fetch a fine sum of money.Admittedly I could not find a fake match but it strikes me peculiar. I see bidder confidence in the listing but I am not confident.
Now the reverse has what looks like a die shift but I am not convinced. The coin should be large but I don't think it should be that large. Again I could be wrong.

The coin looks fine to me. There are signs of it being double struck on the reverse.

Hey maybe not so bad after all? Isn't the size of the 40 reduced by this time? 17-19 g range?

It's not the commonly encountered Justinian Year 12 Nikomedia fake follis, which is the only one of this design and mint listed on FORVM. We've seen those here before, sadly.

I just checked my Justinianus follis from Nicomedia, yr XXI w/B officina, and while it's not as nice as chrsmat's, the size is close -- 34x35 mm and 18.4g. It does have a slightly smaller follis reverse overstruck on the lower half of the obverse, though, about 30 mm.

If it's online, does the seller have lots of good feedback?
Seems fine.
