Today while metal detecting I found a 2005 P (Kansas) Silver Quarter. not from the Proof Sets. I enjoyed knowing some one from Utah also found a 2005 P silver Quarter too (West Virginia). Here is a picture of my Silver Coin only Two ever Found I have one. thanks enjoy debunking this Mystery.

2005-P-Kansas-Silver-Quarter.

it weight is 3.7 dwt = 5.75 grams. in 1964 Quarters weight was 6.25 grams. now they weight 5.67 grams. and the proof sets were 6.25 grams also. I went to Pawn One for weight. will go somewhere else tomorrow.
How Much is it worth? if in Idaho and you wanna see it E-mail Me.

Worth 25 cents. It's silver plated and that's considered damage. Such a small amount of silver that it adds no value. Sorry.

Hello and to CCF

If may well be just plated but how about
letting the poster add a little bit more info
on the quarter. Like weight, mintmark etc. before
judging. A quick and easy test (as posted by others in the past) is to use a single edge razor blade and cut a small scratch in between one of the coins reeds. It will uncover
the copper cladding under if present and will not damage the coin in any noticeable manner.

So You are saying if I file Down the side of the Quarter it will show its true colors. and if it is a Silver Quarter it will lose value due to Dammage. Hum. If it was Plated how was it done? Do you have a Quarter Like Mine How Do You Know?

There was enough info to already know what the problem is. This is so common that no one would assume that this was anything but silver plated. I suppose offering a test is something I should have done though.

I found two quarters like this last year. A Nebraska and oddly enough, a Kansas. Thought I found a rarity, ugghh...
