I have a tube of 2012 Silver Eagles.

For long term storage, is it best to keep them in the tube or invest in air tights?

Thanks

If they are bullion eagles then store them in the tube. It will give them protection, and even if they tone they are still worth the current bullion price. And it will save space if you get a lot of them.

I've been buying (and selling) ASE rolls since 1987 and have never seen a coin tone when kept in their original roll (taped shut)...capsules are fine but the roll itself does the job and is easier to store

Storing in tubes is fine. For extra protection, you may wish to store the tubes in a polyethylene Tupperware box or similar.
Basically, any plastic medium that is suitable for the storage of food os OK also for silver bullion.
For more valuable or proof pieces in pristine condition, you may wish to store / protect them individually in acrylic screw capsules.
