Could anyone here add any info as to the repunched 1 or OBV # ..? on this 1891 cent

I haven't found any info on this variety in the 65th Charlton,...and is it called 1 over 1..?

Is the OBV grading correct? .. because I have some that were graded incorrectly.

Thanks..!!

Rob Turner's book on this specific date, is a cool resource, it depends if you want to really know, right down to the die pairings... maybe bosox will chime in on this thread and tell you...

Obv 2, LLLD as noted by ICCS.

As mentioned in bosox's article, all four digits were re-punched.

For an old ICCS holder, the grading seems appropriate. There are contact marks visible to the naked eye. Might make a 63 today, but I'd leave it in the old holder.

SPP..Thanks for that link to bosox's pics and notes.
It helps to know that I'm looking at the right coin and not guessing.
Amazing work and photography by Rob on that link.

Thanks jg86 for confirming the LDLL OBV 2 so that I'm sure that I'm looking at the right 1891.

A previous ICCS 1892 of mine had me looking at the wrong OBV grading. I didn't want to repeat this error on my part.

Greatly appreciate this guidance....

Obv 2, LDLL. 1891 dies are tough to ID from photos, but I am pretty sure it is my O2S-L2/R1O-L4. At 6% of all 1891 LDLL cents, that is one of the more common die pairs. The "18" were re-punched in the matrix, so all LDLL 1891 cents show it to varying degrees, depending on die state and strike. The "91" were punched individually into each working die.

Thanks again,..and again..bosox..

Even with a good loop,..some of the re-punches and differences are hard for me to see.
The big coin blowups (on the computer) do help a lot.

Also...Always love it when you also step in here..
