Thank you for looking. I was able to see the BN coins when I looked with internet explorer. I am sorry for making such a big deal about this. I just wanted to figure it out so I know what is what.

I just learned about this and searched my 1969 D cents and all 5 have very weak fg.. barely visible

Wonder if they will ever sack the 22 plain or weak D ?
Strange how some coins with all the same phenom. are
labeled and treated differently just because of their year
or denomination etc.

I think it was more about the lack of education about the minting process at the time. The 1922 no D has just been accepted for so long, which is also a contributing factor to it staying popular with collectors. Do not for get the three legged Buffalo nickel. That is another one with staying power as well.
