This one also resides in my set....I will say this one is a pretty beast in hand. What would you grade her?

MS64 possibly would come back from a TPG with a PL designation.

I'm not convinced that this has original surfaces. I'm seeing a lot of hairlines and dont think they are from die polishing.

On a coin that has PL and Semi-PL surfaces, every little mark will be more prominent.
Rest in Peace

Yeah, they're die polishing. Early 1880's San Francisco issues are notorious for it. OTOH you'll never see better-struck Morgans than these; the current coin is a case in point.

I think it grades MS-64+. Definitely at least semi-PL, maybe PL but not sure if the reflectivity is deep enough.

I'd call it MS64PL.

I'd have called those lines into question myself on just about any coin besides an early San Francisco Morgan.

Tough call on this one. Looks PL. Exceptional cameo and very clean fields. Great luster. But there are some prominent marks on the obverse.

I think MS-64+ PL is the right grade. In terms of marketability, may approach the value of a less stunning MS-65 coin
